Student Success Statement

“Everyone is the architect of their own learning.”
Claudius

Reflection: I agree with this statement because no one else can learn for you besides yourself. You build your own learning therefore you are the architect of your own knowledge. Only you can build your knowledge because it all depends on whether or not you choose to learn. All the things you know are because you chose to learn them instead of ignoring them and not know anything.

“To be great—concentrate.”
Orson Sweet Mardin

Reflection: I agree with this statement because you can’t be great and accomplish all your goals if you don’t concentrate on them. When you concentrate on your goals you can actually achieve them so you can get on step higher to reaching the life of your dreams. If you don’t concentrate then you are just doing a sloppy job in accomplishing what you want but as long as you do concentrate you  can do anything to get what you need and want in life.

“You have only always to do what is right. It will become easier by practice, and you enjoy the midst of your trials the pleasure of an approving conscience.”
Robert E. Lee
Reflection: When is it the right time to do something right? Now is the time. It will always a good time to do something right. The more you decide to do the right things the more you’ll get used to them and the easier it will get. Not only will it get easier but will also change your life and even the lives of those around you. If you choose the right you can influence others to do the same. Making the right choices will bring positive Karma to your life therefore making your life easier and happier little by little.

Student Success Statement

“I think it better to do right, even if we suffer in so doing, than to incur the reproach of our consciences and prosperity.”

-Robert E. Lee

Reflection: I agree with what Robert E. Lee has quoted. It is better to do the right even if it’s hard because afterwards you will get positive consequences. It’s better to do the right and suffer only a little than to do the wrong and suffer with those choices for a long time. It’s good to just do the right when you have the chance than to do nothing or than to do something wrong.

“To know what is right and not do it is the worst cowardice.”

-Confucius

Reflection: By definition cowardice means “lack of bravery “. The fact that people decide to do wrong even when they know what is right is a very poor quality of people. Therefore I agree with what Confucius has quoted because if you know what is right then do it. There is no need to change your mind and go for the bad decisions in life.

Selecting your Courses Part 4

Selecting your Courses

Part 4

Social studies

You can better understand local and world events that are happening now by studying the culture and the history that has shaped them. Here is a suggested course plan:

·       U.S. History (two semesters)

·       U.S. Government (one semester)

·       World history and geography (one semester)

·       One additional semester in the above or other areas

Foreign language

Solid foreign language study shows colleges you’re willing to stretch beyond the basics. Many colleges require at least two years of study in the same foreign language, and some prefer more.

Learning a foreign language can be a challenge but is exciting. Repetition is the key to learning a language, and having conversations with others speaking the same language. Repetition in a fun way will build your skills thoroughly as you seek to master new languages.

“You cannot do wrong and feel right. It’s impossible.”

Ezra T. Benson

Reflection: This statement is true because whenever you do something wrong there is always that feeling that makes you feel regret or makes you feel really bad. You might get what you want from doing wrong but you know that eventually you will feel bad for the bad consequences you have caused for yourself and others. If you choose to cheat on a test you will get and you will feel that regret that everyone else does. It is always better to do right so you can feel good about yourself everyday.
